Recycle  those old jeans and make a cute apron. You can even use the button and buttonhole to do this project. Since you rag the edges, all you need is about an hour and a little thread!

JEANS APRON

Cut the following pattern pieces from the jeans:

Skirt:

Cut the back of the jeans along inside of the outside seam to about 13” long by 14” wide. Middle of skirt will be the back pant seam.

Bib: Cut up through front and back leg. Bib will be about 12 “ wide and 5” deep from outside of seam. Outside seam of jean leg will be the center seam of bib. The size is up to you.

Neck Piece: Cut out outside seam of other leg. Size is about 20 or22 inches.

SEWING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Sew bottom seam of bib (hem of previous leg) to underlap the waistband of skirt, centered.

2. Sew neck piece ends to top corners of bib.  I cut out the snap and sewed it to the end of the neck tie, then sewed the buttonhole of the jeans to the apron top instead of tying.

3. Finish raw edges with zigzag stitch about ¾ inch in. Clip ¼ “ apart around the edge to facilitate fringing effect. (Option is to sew a ruffle or bias tape to finish outside edge.)

4.   Finish by making belt using the inside leg seam. Cut 1” on either edge of the seam. Cut ¼” snips so it will fray as well. You can make ties from ribbon or coordinating fabric if you wish.
